Scott Miller, RMT Scott has always had a keen interest in yoga, anatomy and biomechanics, and his approach to massage therapy is a blend of experience and passion. After graduating from Sutherland-Chan Massage Therapy School in 1995, Scott’s interest in the profession has grown and evolved. In addition to many years of clinical practice, he has worked for the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario as an examiner and subject matter expert for the provincial exams. He was also a teacher and clinic supervisor at the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy. In an effort to further his understanding in the complexities of this work, he has taken numerous courses in various styles of massage. From the more conventional ‘western’ style techniques to the deeper and more subtle elements of ‘eastern’ modalities, Scott’s massage has evolved over time. The main influence on his approach to massage was the discovery of deep tissue work, myofascial release and Thai massage. They offer him the ability to open restrictions in the body and invite this change with an intuitive, integrated blend of these techniques. This unique and holistic bodywork experience allows every treatment to reflect your individual needs and concerns. Availability: Monday 11:30-7:30 |

Angela Cookson, RMT Angela’s dedication to helping and serving others was the driving force behind her becoming a Massage Therapist. Following many years as a teacher, she decided to head back to the classroom, and completed her massage therapy training at Sutherland-Chan School & Teaching Clinic in Toronto in 2007. Going back to school re-ignited Angela’s passion for being a student in life, and since having graduated, she has channelled her life-long enthusiasm for expanding her knowledge into her professional life. Since graduating, she has completed additional education and training in CranioSacral Therapy, Hot Stone Massage, Ayurveda, and Reiki (Level I). Her next challenge? Acupuncture in the spring! Angela’s massage therapy practice has grown and evolved over the past 4 - 5 years. She enjoys a strong pre and post-natal massage practice, and appreciates the challenge offered in sports and injury-related massage provided regularly by her musician and runner clients. She also appreciates the wide range of benefits made available to her and her clients by working co-operatively in a yoga studio... her favourite yoga posture is Savasana, wherein she meditates on the possibility of finding more length in her hamstrings. Availability: Wednesday 11:30-7:30 |

Swedish Massage: This is a soft tissue massage with our luxurious all-natural coconut oil* applied directly on your skin allowing for the long, smooth, flowing strokes characteristic of a traditional Swedish Massage. Swedish Massage can be relaxing, therapeutic, or both, & can be seamlessly blended with most other massage therapy modalities (myofascial release, lymphatic drainage, hydrotherapy, aromatherapy) allowing your therapist to tailor a treatment just for you and your needs! * grape seed oil is also available.
Thai Yoga Massage: This is a perfect blend of stretching and massage. Thai Yoga massage takes place on a mat while fully clothed. Treatments include a blend of assisted stretching and massage techniques to release and relax the entire body. Often called "lazy man's yoga" this is a perfectly decadent way to treat yourself from head to toe. (Please note this is not a registerd modality so does not qualify as an RMT treatment).
Relaxation Massage: If you are stressed out, over worked, or just need to take time for yourself, a relaxation massage may be exactly what you’re looking for! In a full body relaxation massage we tailor a dreamy massage just for you using a custom combination of essential oils, hot stones, and heated towels based on your needs. A 60, 75, or 90 minute appointment is required for a full body massage.
Don’t have the time for a full body massage? No worries! Book a 30 or 45 minute massage and your therapist will discuss your stress points with you tailor your massage for the time you have! You’ll still leave feeling less stressed and ready for the world!
Myofascial Release: A therapeutic technique which encourages the elongation of your connective tissues. Used along with massage and prescribed self care to correct postural dysfunctions, speed healing after injury, reduce pain and discomfort from repetitive strain syndromes, increase functionality after surgery or injury, myofascial release can leave you feeling more open, mobile, and free in your movements. Ask your RMT if myofascial release can help you!
Deep Tissue Massage: All our therapists can customize your massage to suit your preferences! If you prefer a massage with deeper pressure, simply let your therapist know, and he or she will adjust the pressure being used while making sure to ensure a safe and effective massage.
Therapeutic Massage: Have an injury? Repetitive strain? Tendonitis? Nerve compression? Or even just general aches and pains? We can help! Following a thorough health history and needs assessment, therapeutic massage can reduce pain, increase range of motion, decrease recovery time, and simply help get you back to your life faster. Your therapist will work with you to create a unique, safe, & effective treatment plan and self care strategy to help you get better faster!
Pre- & Post-Natal Massage: Pre- & post-natal massage shares many of the same goals as regular massage therapy: to ease tension, relieve aches and pains, relax tense muscles, assist biomechanical dysfunction... however in an expecting mother’s case, special attention and care is given by the RMT to the physical, psychological, and emotional changes unique to pregnancy.
A woman’s body undergoes a many changes during and after pregnancy: rapid weight gain/loss, shifting centre of gravity, the easing of ligaments, increase curve in the lower back... all of these changes can leave a woman feeling all sorts of new aches and pains (especially in the back, neck, and weight bearing joints in the body). Pre- & post-natal massage provides a nurturing, relaxing, and therapeutic touch which can help with those aches & pains!
Hydrotherapy: Hydrotherapy is the application of water-based techniques or modalities to the body to aid in soft tissue health and healing. In the context of massage therapy, hydrotherapy is used to enhance the benefits of your massage therapy treatment. At Moksha Uptown Massage Therapy we incorporate the use of hot steam towels, deep moist heating pads, and hot stones to compliment your massage experience!
Sports Massage: Massage therapy designed with the sportsman or sportswoman in mind. As either a pre-event tune up or a post-event self care, your therapist will help you get the most out of your body and your sport!! Sports massage can treat any number of sports related injuries: tendonitis, compartment syndrome, IT band syndrome, “runner’s knee,” frozen shoulder, plantar fasciitis, trigger points, “swimmer’s shoulder,” shin splints, sprains, strains... Massage Therapy combined with a carefully designed remedial exercise programme will help to get you back at your best, ready to play or compete!
